In 1965, La Costa Resort and Spa was the first U.S. resort to introduce a full-service spa and started as a 90-room inn. The resort eventually grew to a 474-room world class resort. In 2003, under new ownership, the resort experinced a $150,000,000 renovation.

McCabe Architecture was integral in preparing a new Master Plan Document and providing development feasibility studies.

We provided design and construction drawings for 4 Villa buildings with 83 privately owned condominium hotel units, providing 125 additional resort hotel rooms in 67,000 additional square feet.

In addition to new hotel units, we renovated, added and expanded existing facilities. The client desired to reinvent the resort identity, create an early California vernacular style, establish way-finding landmarks and enforce the prestige of the resort. These projects include:
